About Me

I am a retired banker of 48 years. I worked in large national banks as well as small local banks. Over those years I saw all kinds of mortgage products being offered to the clients of both large and small banking institutions. Those seeking mortgages usually had more knowledge about a TV Set than they would about mortgage products. I enjoyed helping people to understand the mortgage options that were right for them. Considering it is the single largest purchase most people will ever make, people need to do more research and understand how making the wrong choice can spell disaster.

Since I have been retired the banking industry has sustained some serious damage mainly a combination of writing of bad consumer loans and a speculative real-estate market. While I would like to think I kept it all together, we all know better. Many people continue to ask me "what should I do, should I do this, or should I do that, etc., etc.". I am retired.

So I decided to write a simple primer for people to begin their research on what type of mortgage is best for their financial situation. This is in no way should be your only website for information on refinancing your mortgage but a jumping off point so you can make a wise decision.

And just so you know, I am no longer working, can't be hired, help straighten out city council, or talked into doing speaking engagements. I am learning how to kayak on the Pacific Ocean.
